To create your first AR experience, just follow the step-by-step explanation below.

Please note that this sample will show how to create a very basic AR experience; consisting of how to create a WonderPage that contains one target image and for example a simple text element as a digital overlay.

Step 1: Open this link to access the genARate studio web tool:

Step 2: Log in with the provided account credentials.

After successful login, the Home-Screen will be displayed.

Step 3: For an easy start please click on the button “LET’S GO”.

In a newly opened dialogue window, you can choose now between AR.Tile and AR.Create WonderPage types.

What is AR.Tile and what is AR.Create?

The content is shown as “tiles” meaning initially you will see a variety of blocks with more information depending on the content on the phone screen.

The tiles are not shown “in relation” to the target image (= printed target). Whether you hold the target image in front of the camera or not, the AR blocks will be displayed.

Note: Once selected AR.Tile by clicking on the button "CREATE" you can choose from different AR.Tile Elements e.g. image, video, audio, link, contact, calendar event, 3D- models.

Content is shown as “designed” in genARate studio. The arrangement of AR content in relation to the target image (= printed target) will be identical on the phone. Content is shown always “related” to the target image in respect of size and position.

More possibilities for styling, positioning, interaction, …

Note: Once selected AR.Create by clicking on the button "CREATE" you can choose from different AR.Create Elements e.g. image, video, audio, text box, social media, buttons, contact, calendar event, 3D models.

Step 5: For this first example please click on CREATE in the AR.Create section on the right. A new window including an upload dialogue will open.

Step 6: Now upload a target image by drag and drop or browse for it.

Pro Tip: Take a look at the Best Practice section, where you find articles helping to choose the perfect target image!

Step 7: Once selected a target image please define the area you want to get tracked and then click OK.

Note: We recommend an area with many details. You will still be able to place augmentations outside the defined area. You can change the tracking area anytime in the target settings. Find more information regarding tracking and target images here.

Step 8: Now your Designer User Interface opens. For our example please select a simple Text box by clicking on the TT icon in the toolbar on the left.

Step 9: A thumbnail appears inside the scenario editor. Click on the thumbnail inside the scenario editor to move/position the element via drag & drop and to access the text editor and settings on the right.

Step 10: In order to check if your WonderPage works properly click now on the TEST button in the upper right corner in the toolbar and follow the steps for testing your WonderPage. After successful testing click on the SAVE button in the toolbar to save your Wonderpage.

Note: Before saving your WonderPage make sure that you've named it by entering a title (on the left side of the toolbar).

Next steps:

Test your WonderPage.
